2015
Charles Stone
From his introduction to swing dancing while serving in the military in Germany in the early 1980’s where he taught dancing from 1984 to 1994, also in England, Ireland, and Belgium.
In 2009, he started the Jefferson City Swing Dance Club and has served as President every year. The club later became a member of the ABA and produced their weekend event, “Swingin’ At The Capitol”. He Served on the board of the Midwest Swing Dance Federation and developed a dancing lesson course for the Boys and Girls Club, YWCA, the Eagles and a couple local nursing homes.
Randy and Kathy Fuller
Randy and Kathy were founders of the MCBC and served on numerous committees Randy was elected President in 2000 and has served in this capacity since. Kathy became the “Co-President” and served as Secretary, Treasurer, as well as Music City’s “Summer Boogie Blast” along side of Randy.
They have both taught Swing Dance in their club and DJ’d. They were significant contributors in hosting the ABA Annual Meeting in Nashville for years at the Maxwell House Hotel.
Jim Brown
Jim joined the DCBA in 1992 and held several offices in the club over the years. He handled the web sites for DCBA and the ABA. He is a member of the Association of Shag and Beach DJs and the National Association of Rhythm and Blues DJs, And several significant heavily organized leadership entities.
2016
Pete Nolan
Pete joined the River City Boppers in 1995. He started attending out of town dance events and began writing articles about them, the accommodations, places of interest to visit, places to eat, and encouraging others to travel.
Pete served as Treasurer for the Memphis Shag Club and the ABA. He was the newsletter editor and volunteered for River City’s “Boppin’ On Beale”.
He performed in a group for “The Buddy Holly Story at the Orpheum Theater, Ronald McDonald House and various charities, and “Dance for a Heartbeat” for St. Jude’s Hospital.
Ron Waller
Ron has been an active member of his club since joining in 1979. He served as Treasurer, Sergeant-At-Arms, dance director, and intermediate level instructor. He was member of the year in 1993 and received the “Chuck Huebner Award” in 1998, and the Midwest Swing Dance Hall of Fame in 2004. Ron won the 2009 Interclub Dance Championship and has been judging competitions for years.
He also served on the West County Swing Dance Club board and taught for every organized dance club in the area.
Judy Aubrey
Judy started dancing as a teenager in North Carolina. Judy moved to North Myrtle Beach for the first SOS, and in 1984 they formed the Burlington NC Shag Club the oldest club in the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs.
She later moved to Chattanooga, TN and in 1994 helped the Choo Choo Shag Club apply for it’s charter and served as Vice President. Judy was instrumental in starting the first annual “Shag Tracks” in Chattanooga. Dancing is a way of life for Judy.
2017
John Butler
John has long been active in the dance community in South Florida and is considered to be one of the greatest assets to the SFSDS and has been a critical part of organizing his club. He encouraged other in the club to take on projects and taught leadership skills. He’s held many positions on the Board of Directors, and supported others who assumed a leadership role.
John has given much to the dance community in South Florida and to the South Florida Swing Dance Society. He has been a club representative to the ABA and offers his knowledge and creative ideas to help our cause.
Doug and Linda Eskew
Doug and Linda have been dancing for decades. They joined the St. Charles Imperial Dance Club and in 2004 was elected President of the club, a position he held for 5 years. The club grew from 100 members to over 300 during his tenure. Doug also volunteered to be dance director and DJ’d for the club for many years. Linda, during this period served as club secretary. She has been instrumental in organizing the annual anniversary dance and club “Gala”, attracting dancers from all over the local area.
Doug served as the club representative to the Midwest Swing Dance Federation and the ABA.
Linda Main
Linda Main has been a member of the Steel City Boogie Club (SCBC) since shortly after it was founded 20 years ago. She has served as Secretary, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President and Special Events Chairpaerson.
Members have always teased Linda by calling her the “Club Ambassador” and the “SCBC Cheerleader” because no matter where she goes, she enthusiastically talks about the club and its annual weekend dance event, “Boogie in the Burgh”.
